Although comprising only about 250 dwellings, the parish of Bishops Caundle has much to commend itself. Most notably the community runs its own village shop and post office. The White Hart Inn is a lovely 17th century pub providing a selection of real ales, fine wines and fine foods. The village also has not only a filling station but a vehicle servicing garage. All Saints CE VR Primary School serves Bishops Caundle and surrounding villages. The village hall is available for hire. It has a sports hall, meeting room and a kitchen. Caundle Brook runs around the south of the village and is crossed by a Grade II listed bridge, Cornford Bridge. The village has an old church with a square bell tower. There is an active campanology group. The village also has a playing field with a sports and social club. In the corner of the playing field is a play area for youngsters.
